Apexification

Apexification is a procedure completed on children whose pulp tissue has been damaged or infected throughout the root canal system, and the root canal is not completely developed.  The doctor will clean the root canal and place a specific material into the canal to help hard tissue form near the root tip (apex). Root-canal filling material can be placed in the remainder of the canal. At this point, root canal development will not continue, because the roots of the tooth did not develop they are susceptible to fractures. It is important to have the tooth properly restored by a dentist.
